Rugby World Cup Tickets

Another simple tip: ask the police!

Here's one for you: did you know that if you're stuck outside Lansdowne Road on matchday without a ticket, there's a very good chance of you getting a ticket from a Garda (Irish policeman)?

Yes, seriously. Croke Park too for that matter, but that's for another day.

Back in 2002, from a Garda outside, I got a ticket for a really big sold out game - I think it was France - just after kick-off. Yes, I said "got" - he gave it to me for free!

Perseverence pays off!

Getting rugby tickets at the bar

This is a really simple tip for finding a ticket in the bar before the rugby match.

Tell the bar man you're looking for a ticket.

The barman is your friend. Make sure he knows you're in the market for a ticket and you might just be lucky. He might have some spare tickets, or someone might have just told him they have one going spare. Maybe as you say it to him the person next to you will hear you and have one spare.

This one obviously works best for games where tickets are NOT gold dust - you won't be getting world cup final tickets! And need I even mention that the aforesaid bar is a rugby pub, near the venue? No - you'll figure that out by yourself!

And yes - I have many times gotten Five Nations tickets in bars before big (even sold out!) games!

Introduction - Rugby Ticket Guide

Hi - I'm your host, the Rugby Ticket Guide!

I created this blog because the Rugby World Cup 2007 in France is only months away and I'm seeing more and more posts on message boards from people looking to find Rugby World Cup 2007 tickets.

I've been going to Six Nations rugby internationals at Lansdowne Road here in Dublin, and in the other Home Nations for years now - very often without a ticket on the morning of match day.

I hope to be able to provide some advice on how to get your hands on some tickets.

So welcome to my blog!
